Regulatory Technical Standards on the authorisation of initial margin models

  • Status: Under consultation

The Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on assessment techniques for authorisation of initial margin models set out the assessment techniques that competent authorities will use in authorising initial margin models. These RTS only apply to counterparties that belong to a group with an aggregate monthly average notional amount (AANA) of non-centrally cleared over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives exceeding EUR 750 billion. Where the initial margin model is a pro-forma model, it will first need to be validated by the EBA before authorisation by the competent authority.
