EBA issues Opinion to the European Commission on the draft amended European Sustainability Reporting Standards
The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an Opinion on the draft amended European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) developed by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). The EBA recognises through this Opinion, addressed to the European Commission, the progress achieved in simplifying elements of the initial standards while also highlighting key issues that require further attention - most notably, the permanent nature of certain reliefs.
The EBA Pillar 3 data hub goes live
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today announced the go-live of its Pillar 3 data hub, marking the first time prudential information from all EEA institutions is made publicly accessible through a single, harmonised digital platform. The hub discloses the data that large and other institutions began submitting on 26 January, and significantly enhances the availability, usability and comparability of prudential information across the EU. By boosting transparency and supporting market discipline, the hub contributes to further strengthening the resilience and soundness of the European financial system.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published clear guidance for banks on how to manage enhanced reporting requirements for operational risk, following the postponement of the first reference date under the amended Implementing Technical Standards (ITS). This move comes after the European Commission adopted Regulation (EU) 2025/2475, which delays the application of new operational risk reporting obligations to the end of June 2026.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today released several updates to ensure consistency with the latest regulatory and reporting framework developments. These include an updated Mapping Tool reflecting recent amendments to the Pillar 3 disclosure and supervisory reporting frameworks, as well as a new version of the Signposting Tool incorporating the revised requirements up to Reporting framework v4.0. Additionally, the EBA’s reporting Time Traveller platform has been enhanced to align with the most recent changes in regulatory reporting.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published a no-action letter on the application of the ESG Pillar 3 disclosure requirements under the EBA disclosure Implementing Technical Standards (ITS). This no-action letter aims to address legal and operational uncertainties linked to the evolving ESG disclosure framework, in light of the proposed amendments under the European Commission’s Omnibus legislative package on sustainability reporting. The EBA is also updating its ESG risk dashboard.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched a public consultation on proposed amendments to the European Commission’s Implementing Regulation on Pillar 3 disclosures under the CRR3. The proposal specifies enhanced and proportionate disclosure requirements related to ESG-related risks, equity exposures and aggregate exposure to shadow banking entities. It also implements the new codes for the statistical classification of economic activities in the EU (NACE). The. Today’s proposal aims to enhance transparency and consistency of disclosures in a proportionate manner. The consultation runs until 22 August 2025.

The EBA publishes its final draft technical standards to implement a centralised EBA Pillar 3 data hub
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published its final draft Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on the Pillar 3 data hub for large and other institutions, which will centralise prudential disclosures by institutions through a single electronic access point on the EBA website. This project is part of the Banking Package laid down in the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR3) and Capital Requirements Directive (CRD6).
