EBA Report shows persistent gender imbalance and pay gaps in EU banking leadership
The European Banking Authority (EBA) publishes today the results of its benchmarking analysis on diversity practices in the management bodies of more than 850 institutions credit institutions and investment firms across the European Union (EU). As of 31 December 2024, significant gender imbalances and pay gaps persisted, particularly at senior management level, despite some progress compared with the situation in 2021. The EBA calls on institutions to consider promoting a more balanced representation of genders, and on competent authorities to continue assessing diversity and gender pay gap practices as part of their supervisory reviews.

The EBA and ESMA launch a consultation on the revised suitability assessment framework for banks and investment firms
The European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) today launched a consultation on the revised joint Guidelines on the assessment of the suitability of members of the management body and key function holders. In parallel, the EBA is consulting on draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) specifying the documentation and information that large institutions must submit to competent authorities. Together, these elements form the Suitability Package, which aims to harmonise suitability assessments and promote supervisory convergence across the EU.

The EBA consults on revised Guidelines on internal governance
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched a consultation on its revised Guidelines on internal governance under the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD). The proposed revisions reflect the changes introduced in the CRD framework as well as in other relevant legislations, such as the Digital Operational Resilience Acts (DORA). The consultation runs until 7 November 2025 and is limited to the proposed changes.

The EBA launches consultation on its draft Guidelines on third-party risk management with regard to non-ICT related services
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched a public consultation on the draft Guidelines on the sound management of third-party risk. The draft Guidelines focus on third-party arrangements in relation to non-ICT related services provided by third-party service providers and their subcontractors with a particular focus on the provision of critical or important functions. These Guidelines revise and update the previous EBA Guidelines on outsourcing, published in 2019, in line with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). The consultation runs until 8 October 2025.
