Pillar 3 ESG Template 3 – NACE sectors scoping
- Question
-
The list of minimum NACE sectors provided in the template includes a combination of level 2, level 3 and level 4 NACE codes. Does this mean that if a NACE level 2 sector is mentioned, all the underlying NACE level 4 sectors are included? Or should only the level 4 NACE sectors explicitly mentioned in the list be included?
- Background on the question
-
The template prescribes a certain list of sectors and a certain number or NACE sectors (a minima) required for each sector. The list includes a combination of level 2, level 3 and level 4 NACE codes which makes the correct interpretation and application of these instructions less clear.
For example, looking at the Maritime transport sector we see a combination of different levels of NACE sectors, one being H50 (water transport – level 2 NACE). Below this H50.1 and H50.10 (both Sea and coastal passenger water transport) and additionally H50.2 and H50.20 (both Sea and coastal freight water transport) are also mentioned. H 50.1 and H 50.2 are both level 3 NACE sectors and they include respectively H50.10 and H50.20 (level 4) exclusively, and therefore they are redundant. In addition, H 50 also includes H50.3 and H50.30 (Inland passenger water transport) and H50.4 and H50.40 (Inland freight water transport) which are not explicitly mentioned in the list. Does this mean that if H50 is part of the list, then all of the underlying level 4 NACE codes are included? Or only the level 4 NACE codes explicitly mentioned shall be included?
