Hi I am looking for the definition and description of near- miss events and if possible also provide some examples.

There are two school of thoughts one believe that near miss is the event which didn't occur but has been averted by chance and would not have been detected in normal controls.
the other saysnear miss is an event that occurred but did not result in adverse impact of any kind or the impact is avoided due to fortunate circumstances but had the potential to do so
