EBA consults on a revised data template for the identification of G-SIIS

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a consultation to update its data template for the identification of global systemically relevant institutions (G-SIIs). The need for this revision was prompted by the new data template and some minor revisions introduced by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) in January 2015 for the identification of global systemically important banks (G-SIBs). The consultation runs until 20 May 2015.

Considering that the list of EU G-SIBs identified by the BCBS and the list of G-SIIs identified by the relevant authorities in EU Member States are identical, the EBA will need to update its Regulatory Technical Standard (RTS) for identifying G-SIIs, its Implementing Technical Standard (ITS) on special disclosure rules applicable to G-SIIs, as well as its final guidelines on special disclosure rules for large institutions.

For practical reasons, the full data template with the detailed specification of the indicator values will only be incorporated in the guidelines. The instructions for institutions on how to fill in the revised template will be published on the EBA website.
