Simplifying Europe for the financial sector
- Conference/Workshop
- -

On 7 October 2025, the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Money and Finance Forum (SUERF) jointly held the conference Simplifying Europe for the financial sector.
Over the past decade, European financial regulation has evolved significantly, strengthening the resilience of banks across the continent. Yet, increasingly demanding rules have sparked debate about their impact on Europe's growth and competitiveness, raising important questions about the balance between simplicity and effective oversight. To address these pressing issues, this conference will gather distinguished speakers from across the financial community to provide insightful discussions and expert perspectives on the future of European regulation.
The conference was organised around two panels:
- Panel 1 will address the issues from a macroeconomics perspective and discuss the question: What are the benefits of simplification in the financial sector (volume & cost of credit, access to finance, economic growth)?
- Panel 2 will address the issues from an institutional & international perspective and discuss the topic: Challenges, opportunities & ways of increasing the efficiency of the EU regulatory and supervisory framework.
