EBA launches consultation on technical standards specifying the prudential treatment of software assets
The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a consultation on draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) specifying the prudential treatment of software assets. As the banking sector is moving towards a more digital environment, the aim of these draft RTS is to achieve an appropriate balance between the need to maintain a certain margin of conservatism in the prudential treatment of software assets and their relevance from a business and an economic perspective. The consultation runs until 09 July 2020.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a consultation to update the identification methodology of global systemically important institutions (G-SIIs) and related capital buffer rates. The need for this revision was prompted, on one hand, by the revised framework for global systemically important banks (G-SIBs) published by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) in July 2018 and, on the other hand, by the recent mandate given to the EBA to draft an additional methodology for the allocation of G-SII buffer rates to identified G-SIIs. The consultation runs until 5 June 2020.

EBA updates list of CET1 instruments
The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an updated list of capital instruments that Competent Authorities (CAs) across the European Union (EU) have classified as Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1). The list will be maintained and updated on a regular basis.
