The EBA’s Board of Supervisors is the principal decision-making body of the Authority. It is composed of the heads of the relevant competent authorities in each Member State (who may be accompanied by a representative from the central bank, where separate) and is chaired by the EBA’s Chairperson, Andrea Enria. Members from EEA countries as well as representatives of the European Commission, the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB), the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) also participate as observers. Members of the Board of Supervisors should act independently and in the Union’s interest.
